Gyeonggi Province-Center of Korean Economy
Gyeonggi Province includes the West Coast of Korea, an area whose importance is increasing with the expansion of Northeast Asian economies.It is also home to Incheon International Airport, Incheon Harbor and Pyongtaek Harbor, providing the province with all the conveniences necessary to become an efficient logistics center.In addition, over one quarter of all Korea's small and medium-sized companies are situated in Gyeonggi Province. Among these, the high-tech industry has a particularly high level of importance, putting Gyeonggi Province at the heart of the Korean economy.
Gyeonggi Province has already established sisterhood relationships with 18 self-governing bodies from 14 countries, showing that it has embraced and taken a leading role in globalization. It plans to widen the scope of its international exchange through the inclusion of more countries.
Northeast Asia's Logistics Hub
Northeast Asia's newest airport, Incheon International, serves the Seoul-Gyeonggi metropolitan area with daily connections to and from the major cities of Europe, North America, Australasia, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Its central location also makes it a convenient hub for Northeast Asia.
Once at Incheon International Airport, transit passengers are no more than a two-hour flight from Vladivostok to the north, Taipei to the south, Beijing and Shanghai to the west, and Tokyo and Osaka to the east. Passengers disembarking at Incheon International can take advantage of a comfortable and economical coach service to quickly reach any of more than 50 destinations in the Seoul-Gyeonggi area.
Gyeonggi Province has devoted all its energy to inducing foreign investment. It has been recognized as the premier self-governing body in Korea with the highest level of foreign investment (USD7.5 billion of FDI in the past three years), supporting the acclaim that foreign companies have given to the considerable potential of Gyeonggi Province.
