Monetary units
The basic unit of the Korean monetary system is the won.
Specifically, various notes and coins are used: Notes include thousand-won, five thousand-won, and ten thousand-won denominations, while coins include 10-won, 50-won, 100-won, and 500-won denominations.
Notes are easily discernable by the colors and by the different portraits of historical figures on each.
The 10-won and 50-won coins are the two smallest denominations.
