Taking rapid steps to establish strategic foothold in Pakistan! 2005-10-06
Exchanging opinions about national informatization with Pakistan¡¯s prime minister during his visit in Korea
- Exchanging information about pursuing cooperation in the IT area, such as additional project of State Bank of Pakistan and ¡®e-Pakistan¡¯
- ¡®Hyundai IT-Pakistan¡¯, the local subsidiary of HIT, also performing aggressive marketing activities
- Large-scale IT roadshow planned in Pakistan next month
Mr. Baek Won In, CEO of HIT, held a meeting with Mr.Shakat Aziz, Prime Minister of Pakistan, who visited Korea on the 29th last month, to exchange opinions about cooperation in the IT area.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Aziz expressed his sincere appreciation for the efforts and investment HIT provided to Pakistan during the last 5 years; in particular, he showed deep interest in the computerization project of State Bank of Pakistan,.
In particular, there was extensive exchange of opinion about the e-Pakistan project for which HIT is planning active participation and investment. e-Pakistan is a roadmap for Pakistan¡¯s e-government project modeled after Korea¡¯s e-government, based on the experience gained from computerizing the overall financial system of State Bank of Pakistan.
In order to foster Pakistan as the strategic country for addressing the Middle East-Southwest Asia market, HIT has established ¡®Hyundai IT-Pakistan¡¯, a wholly owned subsidiary, in February. Currently, the subsidiary has secured about 40 engineers and 5 salespersons in addition to State Bank of Pakistan; it has won the ERP project of a local pharmaceutical company in addition to the project of State Bank of Pakistan.
In particular, it plans to address the follow-up projects of the successfully completed project for implementing the computing system of State Bank of Pakistan such as system management(SM), data warehouse (DW) modernization project, BCP/DRS and overall system upgrade, performance upgrade project etc.
Meanwhile, HIT plans to hold a large-scale roadshow for the areas of finance, public and industry in 3 regions of Pakistan in the middle of next month.
In particular, in the financial area, HIT will disclose the Islam version of ¡®Korebank¡¯, which has been exported to Vietnam, for the first time; a wide-range financial computerization plan encompassing the basic concept of computerization plan for State Bank of Pakistan and Pakistan¡¯s commercial banks, BCP/DRS, Internet banking, implementation of consolidated process for information area will be presented.
In the public area, the vision for e-Pakistan will be presented together with related cases; in the industry area, industrial ERP, manufacturing execution system (MES) and hospital computerization etc. will be covered.
